Intelligynt security service

Dear Friends,

My company has created a free personal security app. You can download it from Google play store at : http://goo.gl/PikI9U
A mobile friendly web site is also available at : www.intelligynt.com

Brief features :

  • Allows user to send panic alerts to a pre-designated emergency contact in a single click.

  • Allows user to send various types of help requests such as Medical emergency, Accident, Vehicle breakdown, Mugging, Robbery etc. in just two clicks.
For each type of help request, user can create & assign a group of people to send the request to, from their phones contact book. For example, user can choose to send medical emergency help requests to their doctor and family members and vehicle breakdown help requests to the mechanic and/or family/office etc. Once contact groups are created and assigned to a help request type, help can be requested with just two clicks. The contacts in the group receive a message which includes users current location. Help message texts can be customised.

  • Allows user to have a secure trip. At the start of a trip, user sets up the trip ETA ( Expected Time of Arrival ) on Intelligynt (either on the website intelligynt.com or using the free mobile app ), and we'll note your expected time of arrival. If you don't check in before the ETA, we'll alert your emergency contact that you set up ahead of time via SMS and Email. Of course, you can always extend your ETA or check in early.

  • Allows user to view nearby places of interest on a map, such as hospitals, banks, atms, police station etc which are displayed on google map with address and distance from current location.

  • Users current location is sent with all alert and help requests in the form of a Google map link.

We will be adding following features shortly :
  • Track the current location of your loved ones or employees in realtime on a map
  • Set geo-fences for your loved ones or employees and get alerts based on geo-fence violation
  • Choose to broadcast your emergency help message to your social network on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Linkedin, Whatsapp to broaden your chances of getting help.

Please use it. I hope it helps you and your family stay safe. And give me feedback, suggestions to improve it.

Thoughts on putting a new team together

When I joined my present job, a start-up, I was tasked with putting together the software product development team from ground up. We all know the drill and grind of hiring. So while that is happening, it is important to focus on a couple of things.

Yes we will do the usual stuff like technology stack selection, project planning, sprints etc. but while doing that don't make it water tight. Deliberately leave room for individual initiative & innovation. Avoid the temptation to have everything drawn up and planned to a T. Because once you have the juggernaut rolling, you may or may not be able to do so perfect a plan for you next projects. If you want to build a team that will create new products for you, you need people who will think; Initiators, Innovators. Build it into your plans and team workflows. Build a team that is required to innovate in order to do its job.

Another point is, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to recruit the full team all together. So while preparing for the trainings and orientations and the project documentation, plan on people who join first and going through it being enabled and tasked to pass it on to newer joiners. Teams bond faster, better and with a knowledge sharing culture as a result.

These two translate into a surprisingly positive impact on attrition too.

Please do share your thoughts and experiences on this topic.
